Introduction

Learn the techniques necessary to become a highly successful defender at the 2012 Summer Advanced Defense Camp. This is your chance to learn from the Arizona State Baseball staff in order to refine your defensive skills during the 2012 summer break. Run by current ASU assistant coach and 13-year MLB veteran Mike Benjamin and other ASU staff members and players, camp will teach what it will take to maximize defensive abilities and make it to the next level. Correct footwork, smooth transitions, and throwing accuracy are important elements in any defensive position, and camp will show you how to properly control these aspects of the game.

Coach Benjamin, now in his third season as the Arizona State assistant coach, brings his expertise to the table with his illustrious career. Following his All-American stint with the Sun Devils as a shortstop in college, Coach Benjamin was a third round pick of the San Francisco Giants in 1987. After only two years in the minors, he made his Major League debut in 1989, playing mostly middle-infield the next 7 years for the Giants, followed by 6 more seasons in the majors with the Phillies, Red Sox, and Pirates. Coach Benjamin brings his vast knowledge of the game in order to help teach how to play defense to the best of your ability.

Location:
The camp will be headquartered at Packard Stadium, one of the top collegiate baseball facilities in the nation. Campers will use the ASU main and practice fields, bullpens, covered hitting facility, team meeting rooms and sports medicine facility.

Glove
Baseball pants or shorts, hat
Cleats
Please label all personal items

Additional Information:
An ASU athletic trainer will be present during all activity.
Water will be provided continually throughout camp day.
Parents are welcome to stay, watch camp, and sit-in on camp meetings.

Please make it a habit to check your e-mail daily, this will eliminate any confusion and or miscommunication.

Camp Check-in Information

Camper check-in will begin approximately 30 before camp begins on the first day at Packard Stadium. Camp will begin promptly at 8am. Camp payment needs to be received prior to camp check-in.

Camp Parking Information

Parking is available in the Packard Stadium parking lot on the ASU campus. There is no cost for parking.

Miscellaneous Information

What if I have to cancel a Clinic?
We do not offer refunds on canceled campers, just a future camp credit if you decide to cancel, but we do have what is called "Cancellation Protection". We offer basic Cancellation Protection to allow participants some peace of mind in case plans change. This allows us to keep our prices low and provide the best service possible. Due at the time of registration, Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of camp fees should you cancel your registration more than 14 days prior to the start of an overnight camp, and 7 days prior to the start of a day camp. If you cancel within 14 or 7 days of the start of your session, we will give you a camp credit for all money paid. The credit is valid for three years from camp date at any of our camps. Credit with insurance is transferable to family members or friends, and good toward a future camp.

A camp store with ASU baseball merchandise will be available at Packard Stadium each camp day
